Pat Hynes

Pat Hynes is the Lyons Township assessor and spent 23 years working in the Cook County Assessor’s Office as a residential field inspector.¹ He resigned from the assessor's office, citing frustrations with operational issues and a decline in inspections.² He holds a B.S. in Real Estate from DePaul University and is a certified Illinois assessing officer.³

Hynes says he is running to provide fair and accurate assessments.³ He says the assessor's office has failed to use accurate data and has ignored building permit information for new construction and renovations.⁴ He has proposed establishing an economic development office to assist investors in estimating future assessments and encourage construction in the county.⁵

Regarding data centers, Hynes told Axios he would challenge any valuation not supported by evidence and would not rely on power capacity alone.⁶ Hynes reports he has returned more than $14 million to taxpayers through corrected assessments and exemptions since taking office in Lyons Township.⁷ An investigation confirmed that 620 properties flagged by Hynes and his team were not accurately recorded.⁵
