Nico Tsatsoulis

Nico Tsatsoulis is the Libertarian committeeperson for Chicago’s 5th Ward, elected in 2024.¹ His campaign says he has worked in finance, retail, wholesale, and real estate, and he holds an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.² He says he is working to establish a nonprofit organization for equal media access.¹

He proposes capping property taxes at 1 percent of a property's purchase price.³ He wants to base property assessments on a building's sale price and limit annual assessment increases to 2 percent.⁴ If a building has not sold in the last 10 years, he wants to use third-party appraisals to determine assessed values.⁴ He has said the current tax levy has nothing to do with the actual value of properties and only reflects how much money politicians want to raise.⁵
