Karen Zaccor

Karen Zaccor is the appointed Subdistrict 4A board member, a retired CPS teacher of 28 years who co-founded Uplift Community High School.¹ She chaired a Local School Council and worked with Northside Action for Justice against privatization and for an elected school board.²

Zaccor opposes school closures, arguing the district should instead revitalize low-enrollment schools. She advocates for Sustainable Community Schools and says the state owes the district roughly $2 billion. In 2025 she cosponsored a charter school accountability resolution, saying families at all schools should be able to count on their school staying open. She was appointed to the public school teachers’ pension board.^{3, 4, 5, 6}
