Ellen Sherratt

Ellen Sherratt is an education consultant on teacher quality who founded Common Cents Education.¹ She previously served as vice president for policy and research at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.² Her work includes a national initiative to raise teacher pay and Illinois efforts to address educator shortages.¹ She once favored performance-based pay for teachers but said her research changed her view.³

Sherratt has called for the board to set "moonshot goals" for student achievement by 2037, including raising math scores.¹ She says she would hold after-school office hours for students.¹ She criticized a recent district budget that relied on unapproved state funds.¹ Sherratt says she would be an independent voice not beholden to special interests.¹
