Yolonda Morris

Yolonda Morris has represented the 9th District in the Illinois House since September 2023.¹ She was a certified nursing assistant for 26 years before working as a union organizer for SEIU.² Her campaign says she advocates for a $15 minimum wage, expanded child care access and safe staffing standards.²

Morris sponsored the Illinois Menopause Equity and Care Act, which became law in 2026. The legislation requires the state to provide public education on menopause, broadens insurance coverage for related care, and mandates that employers offer reasonable accommodations to workers experiencing menopause. She also carried a bill in the House to allow rideshare drivers to unionize.^{3, 4, 5, 1}
