Valerie Bradford is retired.1 She is the former president of the Santa Clarita NAACP chapter.2 She has asked the city to provide grants and other help for small businesses hurt by the Bouquet Canyon Road closure.2 Her campaign says she supports a more transparent and accountable City Council, proactive public safety, and well-maintained neighborhoods.3 She proposes tying infrastructure planning to new housing developments to reduce traffic congestion.1 She also wants to attract good-paying jobs to lower the city's poverty rate, which she says is above 7 percent.1
