Robyn Gabel

Robyn Gabel is the Majority Leader of the Illinois House and has represented the 18th District since 2010. Before holding office, she served for 22 years as the executive director of the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition. She led the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, which was signed into law in 2026, and sponsored a law that allows terminally ill adults with decision-making capacity to request medication to hasten their deaths.^{1, 2, 3, 4}

She passed a bill to prevent hospitals from taking patients' primary homes in legal actions over unpaid medical debt. Her campaign lists her priorities as racial equity, ethics reform, expanding health care access, clean energy policy and safety net funding.^{4, 5, 3}
