Overview
Phil Brock was elected to the Santa Monica City Council in 2020 and served as mayor through 2024.1 He supports expanding the police force and pressing officials to address crime and homelessness.2 He wants the city to control its zoning and add affordable housing for senior and low-income residents.2 He opposes mid- and high-rise housing projects, arguing they harm the city's character.3 He has criticized protected bikeways, arguing a 14th Street project lacked resident input.4
His campaign says he chairs the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Homeless Advisory Board.5 He previously served on the city's Parks and Recreation Commission.1 In 2023, he pulled a motion calling for additional analysis of a 17th Street bikeway after residents raised concerns.6
