Overview
Patty Garcia worked in U.S. Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García’s office starting in 2019 and resigned as his chief of staff in 2025.1 She holds a doctorate in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.2
She has said she supports a $25 federal minimum wage and Medicare for All.3 She has called for abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and her campaign website states immigration enforcement is “being used to terrorize working-class communities.”4 She has also said she would prioritize creating a pathway to citizenship and work permits for longtime immigrants, and expanding access to affordable higher education.5
She says she brought in millions of dollars in federal support while working in the congressional office.3
