Lindsey LaPointe

Lindsey LaPointe represents Chicago’s 19th District and chairs the House Mental Health and Addiction Committee.¹ A former social worker, she managed justice reform at Business and Professional People for the Public Interest and the state's Adult Redeploy Illinois program.²

She supports a progressive state tax system to reduce the burden on working families.³ She criticized a proposed $40 million cut to the state homelessness budget.⁴ A law she sponsored created an alternative to the social work licensing exam.⁵ She introduced legislation encouraging behavioral health providers to join commercial insurance networks.⁵ Another law she sponsored guarantees universal mental health screenings for public school students.⁶ She helped secure $13 million for an older-adult shelter on the Far Northwest Side.⁶
