Larry Thompson

Larry Thompson is an attorney, talent manager, and film producer seeking to represent California’s 32nd Congressional District. He is the founder and president of the Larry A. Thompson Organization, a talent management and production studio based in Los Angeles; his campaign says he has managed the careers of over 250 stars and produced films and television programs. Thompson earned a law degree from the University of Mississippi and served in the U.S. Army Reserve’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1968 to 1974.^{1, 2}

His campaign proposes a constitutional amendment to limit U.S. House members to four terms (eight years) and senators to two terms (twelve years).³ He calls for voter identification and proof of citizenship in federal elections, and wants to keep the border closed to illegal immigration and deport those here illegally.⁴ Thompson says he is personally opposed to abortion, but believes the issue is for each state to decide and does not support a federal ban.⁵ On taxes, he advocates lowering rates and eliminating taxes on Social Security, tips, and overtime.⁵

To address homelessness, he proposes housing people in closed mental institutions, drug addiction facilities, and veteran homes, with religious organizations as co-sponsors.⁵ He supports school choice and would eliminate the U.S. Department of Education, returning control to states.⁶ On energy, he favors letting alternate energy sources and American oil compete in a free market.⁵ He supports prosecuting criminals who use guns and opposes disarming citizens.⁵ He also supports background checks that screen for mental disorders.⁷
