Kelly M. Cassidy

Kelly M. Cassidy has represented the 14th District in the Illinois House since May 2011.¹ She chairs the House Committee on Restorative Justice and serves on the Ethics and Elections committee.² She was legislative director for the Chicago office of the National Organization for Women and managed grant programs for the Cook County State’s Attorney.³

Cassidy sponsored legislation requiring state-regulated insurance to cover abortion medications and gender-affirming hormones at no cost. In 2024, she sponsored laws regarding interstate reproductive health (HB5239) and restraints on pregnant prisoners (HB5431). She introduced HB5521 to bar police from using facial recognition; it stalled in committee in March 2026. She also sponsored a law regarding traveling animal acts (HB4255).^{4, 5, 1, 6}
