Overview
Jesus Ayala Jr. is a Chicago Public Schools graduate who previously worked at MetroSquash, a nonprofit that teaches competitive squash and provides academic support to students.1 His career includes work at One Million Degrees and volunteer roles with the Jones College Prep Local School Council and the Mikva Challenge.2
He wants the school board to spend more time on districtwide issues like improving academic outcomes and evaluating the Skyline curriculum.1 He identifies absenteeism and bullying as problems and thinks a better student experience can help lower absences.1 He told the Chicago Tribune he does not support extending the school-closure moratorium, citing financial stress from declining enrollment.3
