Overview
Jessica Vásquez was appointed 8th District Cook County Commissioner in May 2025.1 She previously was chief of staff to 35th Ward Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and worked at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.2 Her campaign says she helped manage $1.5 million for playgrounds, ballfields, and pedestrian safety through a participatory budgeting process.3
Her priorities include property tax relief, protecting healthcare access, and expanding county resources.3 Her campaign says she supported a county program offering up to $25,000 in down payment assistance.4 She co-introduced a resolution requiring county offices to report interactions with immigration officials.5 She has criticized the county’s property tax computer system for delayed bills.6 She does not support county funding for a new Bears stadium.5
