Overview
Jean McHatton was appointed in April 2025 to the ABC Unified School District Board in Trustee Area 5 to fill a vacancy.1 She is running to keep the seat, and her campaign says she spent 40 years in public education as a classroom teacher, elementary principal and district curriculum director.2 Her campaign also says she currently mentors new teachers and administrators.2 On the board, she was part of a 4-3 majority that voted to halt a plan to close several elementary schools and reconfigure a high school.3
