Jacqui Irwin

Jacqui Irwin is a member of the California State Assembly and a former mayor and city councilmember of Thousand Oaks.¹ She has worked as an engineer at Teledyne Systems and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab.² Her campaign says she has passed 86 laws in the state legislature focusing on consumer rights, education, and cybersecurity.³ Those include securing $3 million for local law enforcement to recover firearms from people prohibited from possessing them and creating tax-free savings accounts for people with disabilities.⁴ She supports policies that hold polluters accountable to help lower electricity bills.⁵

She says reducing the cost of housing, energy, and food is a top priority.⁵ She wants tax reductions given to utilities to be passed on to ratepayers instead of shareholders.⁵ She wants to restore access to affordable healthcare and opposes recent cuts.⁵ She supports reforming the immigration system and securing the border.⁵ She says states should remain responsible for conducting elections.⁵

In the Assembly, Irwin helped pass a law allowing prosecutors to consolidate theft charges from different counties into one case.⁶ She opposed bills that would have encouraged judges to prioritize diversion programs over incarceration or allowed some young adults to clear low-level offense records.⁶
