Overview
Donald P. (Don) Wagner is an Orange County supervisor, a former Irvine mayor, and a former state assemblymember.1 He is a practicing attorney and founded the Orange County chapter of the Federalist Society, a national organization of conservative lawyers, judges, and law professors.2
His campaign says he supports requiring voter ID at the polls, mandating that mail ballots be returned by Election Day, and banning paid ballot harvesting.3 He criticizes the state’s slow ballot-counting process.4 As county supervisor, he pushed for the release of sensitive voter information to the U.S. Department of Justice over claims of voting irregularities.4
His official biography says that as Irvine mayor, he advanced the Great Park project.5 In 2019 as supervisor, he reopened Irvine Lake for public shoreline fishing.5 He says his tenure as a community college trustee included balancing budgets and paying off all debts without additional taxes.5
