Danny Smith is a candidate for Malibu City Council. He lost his beachfront home in the Palisades Fire. He says he is a rebuild zone captain for the La Costa and Carbon Beach neighborhoods. He supports expedited rebuild policies and fee waivers. He calls for a "Fire First" culture with community cisterns and brush clearance. He also wants higher insurance limits. At a council meeting he described the burden that septic system replacement rules would place on fire-damaged properties and favored a sewer on environmental grounds. He would restrict commercial development and acquire land for preservation. He proposes keeping all four lanes of Pacific Coast Highway open. He calls for speed cameras and increased patrols.^{3, 5, 6, 7}
