Overview
Cynthia Gonzalez is the mayor of Cudahy and a city council member whose term began in 2022.1 She directs a Los Angeles Unified School District pilot schools program and holds a UCLA doctorate in educational leadership.1
Her campaign says she helped pass Cudahy’s first rent-stabilization ordinance and resolutions supporting a ceasefire, domestic violence prevention, and students’ right to protest.2 She says she also established committees on city beautification, food vendors, and community safety.2 In 2025, she posted and removed a video that appeared to call on street gangs to organize against immigration raids, drawing public backlash.3 She apologized at a city council meeting, calling the video “satirical” and saying her message was not about violence.3
