Overview
Carlos A. Rivas Jr. was elected in 2024 to represent District 3B on the Chicago Board of Education.1 He directs public affairs for the city's police accountability office and previously served as an alumni manager at UIC College Prep, a Noble School, after working as a substitute teacher and in other roles at Lowell Elementary School, his alma mater.2
As a board member, he voted against an amended CPS budget that relied on unguaranteed state revenue, and he says he wants less mayoral interference and to move away from using loans that increase the budget deficit.1 His priorities include increasing support for neighborhood schools and improving support for students from immigrant families.1
