Overview
Angélica María Dueñas is a human resources specialist and member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee.1 She served as president and vice president of the Sun Valley Area Neighborhood Council and was a delegate for Bernie Sanders to the 2016 and 2020 Democratic National Conventions.2 She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and a master's degree in organizational leadership from Woodbury University.2 She said in 2024 that Senator Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential run inspired her to seek public office.3
Her 2024 campaign website listed priorities including a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, immigration reform, and criminal justice reform.2 In a 2018 survey, she said her top three priorities were ending all wars, universal healthcare, and tuition-free education with federal loan forgiveness.2 In the survey, she also expressed support for universal rent control and for local governments to seize bank-owned homes to house people through HUD and Section 8 programs.2
