Overview
Amy Howorth is a Manhattan Beach City Council member who was elected in 2011 and 2022, has served three terms as mayor, and was on the Manhattan Beach School Board from 2003 to 2011.1 According to a 2026 MB Weekly commentary, her voting record shows support for fee and tax increases, such as a half-cent sales tax, a storm-drain fee, and higher parking and water rates.2 She says she opposes high-rise apartments on Sepulveda Boulevard but will not back legal action to block them, citing financial risk to the city.3 She supported temporarily allowing short-term rentals city-wide during the 2028 Olympics and 2026 World Cup to improve enforcement.4
